#NWORD is a two act stage play about relationships under the spectre of racism. It begins when a video of an eight-year-old white girl calling an eight-year-old Black boy the “n-word” appears online; and subsequently the mothers of the children confront one another.
Christian Elder is a writer and a filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. After a short period of study as a classical painter in Italy he turned to writing poetry, stories, screenplays and plays. His screenplays have been acknowledged in many competitions including Tribeca Film Festival’s Tribeca All Access and the Oscars’ Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. His stage plays have been developed at the Billie Holiday Theatre through the Frank Silvera Writers’ Workshop and Urban Stages, both in New York; he’s also a winner of the NEC Cutting Edge Emerging Playwright Competition. He has written and directed two short films and is the creator and producer of a podcast series.
