Something Like Happiness (novel) Las Cruces, NM

Something Like Happiness is a novel dealing with how a young woman navigates and survives in a girl’s reform school. It touches on forced sterilization, the loss of parental rights for those in the penal system and leased penal labor.

Gwendolyn Joyce Mintz is an award-winning writer. Her work has appeared in various online and print journals as well as over 50 anthologies. She is the author of three fiction chapbooks: “Mother Love,” “Where I’ll Be If I’m Not There,” and “Colored Girl.”
