2023 COURAGE to WRITE Writer of Note Eva Freeman’s “work creates empathy for the overlooked and the unheard.”

October 12, 2023

2023 COURAGE to WRITE Writer of Note Awardee Feature of the Week:

Eva Freeman, Jericho (Historical Fiction), Brooklyn, NY

In Jericho, During the dawn of African independence, Franklin Williams, a great champion of the race, will also participate in one of its greatest betrayals.

“Isaac Singer believed literature should “entertain” and “instruct.”  By entertaining the reader, I hope my work creates empathy for the overlooked and the unheard.”

Eva’s work of historical fiction takes place during an exciting, hopeful period for civil rights in America and African independence and nationalism. Loosely based on her grandfather’s best friend, the story follows his rise to power, and eventual downfall.
