Erica Blumfield

April 9, 2024

Starring Erica Blumfield (Memoir), Los Angeles, CA

Bipolar convinces Erica her life is a reality TV show, a memoir weaving NYC’s music scene, a tumultuous love story, psychiatric institutions, and triumphant recovery.

“My writing redefines mental health struggles as acts of resilience, not weakness. It celebrates survival as triumph and advocates for a world that treats mental health with compassion, not judgment.”

In her creative nonfiction, Erica Blumfield explores the highs and lows of living with bipolar disorder. She finds humor in the face of adversity and confronts society’s perceptions of mental health. Through her writing, teaching creative writing to elementary school children, and producing the storytelling show Revealed, she amplifies voices, advocates for understanding, and inspires others to find strength in their challenges. A 2023 recipient of the Lighthouse Writers New Voices Fellowship, her work appears in All The Lives We Ever Lived, in Bellevue Literary Reviews’ online series “Can Storytelling Prevent Gun Violence?” and on her podcast Telling Mental Health.
