Wrapping up his time in Paris, Visiting Fellow Rasheed Newson spent the month enjoying the American Library’s author programs, diving into the library’s stacks for primary resources, and checking out sites that might play into his developing novel.

His event, From Baldwin to Today: Queer Black Expats in Paris was a success, and we look forward to the publication of Rasheed’s next book, There’s Only One Sin in Hollywood, coming out on June 2, 2026!

Rasheed was also on FRANCE24, where he discussed Black queer identity in literature, his debut novel My Government Means to Kill Me, and what comes next with There’s Only One Sin in Hollywood.

Tune in to both Rasheed’s talk at the Library and on FRANCE24 below.
