My North County (Poetry) set for publication in Spring 2027 by University of Akron Press

My North County is a collection of poems that chronicles the intersecting histories of increased militarization on the U.S/Mexico border alongside personal and familial memory.

“I hope through an orientation in memory/history we might take up the responsibility of imagining a future without the cruelty of militarized boundaries.”

Alfredo Aguilar is the author of the forthcoming poetry collection My North County (University of Akron Press, 2027) selected by Eduardo C. Corral for the Akron Poetry Prize and one previous collection, On This Side of the Desert. He received his MFA from the Michener Center for Writers and has been awarded support from MacDowell, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and the Stadler Center for Poetry and Literary Arts. His work has appeared in The Yale Review, Waxwing, Poetry Northwest, and elsewhere. He currently resides in Central Texas. Find more at alfredoaguilar.net.
