Vanishing Points: Words for Disappearing (Nonfiction), New Orleans, LA

This glossary is a collection of micro-essays and photographs that explores the intersection of industry and nature, and the emotions elicited by those surreal spaces.

“Through Vanishing Points: Words for Disappearing, I hope to explore metalanguage that helps us process the industry-fueled climate crisis and normalize the discussion of ecogrief.”

Amy Kennedy is a New Orleans-based writer and educator examining environmental issues in Louisiana. Witnessing the compounding crises of modern life while watching her two young children discover the natural world inspires her writing. Amy created the website ALongNewThread.com, an online space for processing ecoanxiety and ecogrief. She has a B.S. in English from Appalachian State University and is a 2023 Loyola Institute of Environmental Communication Fellow. Amy is a 2024 recipient of the Antenna Press Publishing Award, and her first book,Vanishing Points: Words for Disappearing, will be released later this year.
