In the Boundary Waters (Novel), Minneapolis, MN

One night in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Wilderness, drunken locals threaten a family of campers in an incident that reveals the fault lines between “deplorables” and “elites”.

“I hope the novel will remind readers of our common humanity.”

Brian Malloy is the author of novels The Year of Ice (St. Martin’s Press), Brendan Wolf (St. Martin’s Press), After Francesco (Kensington), and the young adult novel Twelve Long Months (Scholastic). His novels have been a 2002 New York Times New and Notable title, an Oprah Daily pick for best LGBTQIA+ books of 2021, a 2021 Women’s National Book Association Great Group Reads selection, and a 2009 Book Sense Pick. Honors include the Minnesota Book Award, the American Library Association’s Alex Award, and the Bloomsday Award for Irish American Literature. He has taught/teaches creative writing at the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa (Ojibwe), Ely Folk School, Minnesota Correctional Facility – Lino Lakes, Our Savior’s Transitional Housing, and the University of Minnesota.
