Untamed: Living on the Edge of Wildness (Nonfiction), Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, MT

Untamed is a memoir about living off-grid in the Montana wilderness, using observations of the natural world to explore themes of respect and coexistence.

“By exploring the complex interrelationships between humans and the larger natural communities we live within, I hope that readers will think about new ways of living in this broken world.”

Elise Atchison has lived most of her life in an off-the-grid home on the edge of the Montana wilderness. She is interested in exploring the many ways we relate to the natural world, the many ways we relate to each other, and how the two are fundamentally intertwined. Atchison is the author of Crazy Mountain and the recipient of the High Plains Book Award, Montana Arts Council Artist Grant, Eludia Book Award, and Barbara Deming Artist Grant.
