A Palestinian Love Story (Memoir), Columbia, MO

(c) Michael J. Cooney

A Palestinian memoir of rarely-known realities of college life under military occupation in the West Bank on a campus full of refugees.

“I hope to give voice to the Palestinian urgent need for freedom and sovereignty, and to help in creating healing and peace for Palestinians, Israelis and all of humanity.”

Ibtisam Barakat ( إبتسام بركات ) is a Palestinian-American bilingual author, poet, translator, artist and educator. ٍBorn in Jerusalem, she grew up in Ramallah, and came to the US for an internship at the Nation Magazine. She is the author of numerous books in English and Arabic including the multi-award winning memoirs Tasting the Sky, A Palestinian Childhood and Balcony on the Moon, Coming of Age in Palestine. An international speaker, she promotes ending wars in the lives of children especially, and finding inclusive “soul-utions” to world conflicts.
