Congratulations to 2022 COURAGE to WRITE grantee Jefferey Spivey for the publication his story collection, The Birthright of Sons! He received a COURAGE to WRITE grant for this project two years ago, went on to win the Iron Horse Prize, and is now published by Texas Tech University Press!
The Birthright of Sons is a collection of stories centered around the experiences of marginalized people, namely Black and LGBTQ+ men. The stories are linked by an exploration of identity and the ways personhood is shaped through interactions with the people, places, and belief systems around us.
