Kenyatta D. Berry Ignites a Plea for Equality and Justice

August 7, 2024

Meet Kenyatta D. Berry, a 2024 COURAGE to WRITE Writer of Note working on her nonfiction book, The Price of Freedom.

Embark on a journey, discovering the overlooked African American narratives from the battlefield to Hollywood, igniting an impassioned plea for equality and justice in America.

Kenyatta is an author, genealogist, podcaster, and Host of Genealogy Roadshow (PBS). She specializes in resurrecting lost stories, particularly from marginalized backgrounds. Her work provides crucial context by blending genealogy and history.

An exciting update from Kenyatta: “The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in NYC was incredibly helpful in my research on Nina Mae McKinney. Their extensive collection of archival materials provided valuable insights, and the knowledgeable staff was instrumental in guiding me through their resources, making my research experience both productive and enriching.”
