A Superfluous Man (Novel), Buffalo, NY

(c) Libby March

A Superfluous Man explores what it means to care for children at this fraught moment, all while seeking out the fissures between our digital and analog lives.

“I hope this novel will help readers reflect upon contemporary life—on and offline—in a world that continues to fissure and fracture post COVID.”

Nishant Batsha is the author of Mother Ocean Father Nation. This novel was longlisted for a Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award, a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award, and named among 2022’s best books by NPR. His next novel, A Bomb Placed Close to the Heart, will be released in 2025. The manuscript for that project was longlisted as a finalist for a 2022 Courage to Write grant. Nishant holds a PhD in history from Columbia University, where he was a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow. He lives in Buffalo with his wife and two children.
