Pepper Auerbach navigates the surreality of psychosis

July 22, 2024

Pepper Auerbach, a 2024 COURAGE to WRITE Writer of Note working on their graphic memoir, My Brain Itches!

My Brain Itches! follows a young boy named Pepper, as he navigates living with the sometimes frightening surreality of his psychosis.

Pepper is a writer and illustrator from Brooklyn, New York. They find joy in sharing stories to destigmatize mental health topics, through art and their work as an Ambassador for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

An exciting update from Pepper: “I’ve continued work on my graphic memoir in the last few months; including adding a new chapter and reworking the remaining pages. I am currently on my third draft, and I have received a lot of good feedback. I plan on adding more content to my novel based on my experiences and I am very excited to proceed with my art.”
