As a first generation North American-born son of Philippine immigrants, Randy Faustino is currently a scientist and STEM educator and has been awarded grants from the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health, the South Dakota’s Governor’s Office of Economic Development, and the Sioux Falls Arts Council for his work. He has published numerous scientific articles in specialized journals in his field after earning his PhD in Physiology. His experiences as a POC scientist intersect with a lifelong love of speculative fiction that together drive his goals to improve contemporary perspectives on diversity and science accessibility.
