Last Night at the Hollywood Canteen (novel)  Los Angeles, CA

1943, Los Angeles. When Hollywood’s most feared critic is found dead at the Hollywood Canteen in an apparent suicide, writer Annie Laurence smells a cover-up. With the help of the critic’s circle of cynical friends, Annie must find the truth worth killing for in a town where everyone has secrets.

Sarah James is a public transit enthusiast, bird watcher, and former theater kid. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she received a BA in American Studies from Fordham University and an MFA in Writing for Screen and Television from the University of Southern California. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her cat, Lucille. Her debut historical fiction novel, The Woman With Two Shadows, will be published by Sourcebooks in July 2022. Sarah is also a freelance writer covering humor, creativity, and technology.
