Check out Issue 27 of The Dial as well as two of their award nominated articles!

April 9, 2025

The Dial‘s 27th issue, Promises, is out now. Read at thedial.world

“You give your word, sign on the dotted line, shake hands. But how much weight does a promise carry? This month, we look at promises made and unmade, the distance between reality and what might be.

– The Editors”

Congratulations to writers Jessica Traynor and Ryan Lenora Brown & Majirata Latela for their award nominations!

Jessica Traynor’s Dial article “Memory Machines” on the proliferation of data centers in Ireland, and the fragility of contemporary record-keeping, has been shortlisted for a European Press Prize — the biggest journalism award in Europe.

Ryan Lenora Brown and Majirata Latela’s investigative report “The True Price of Sportswear” on abuses in a Lesotho factory that produces sportswear for American clothing companies has been longlisted for a One World Media Award, which recognises the best media coverage from and about the global south.

Funds from The de Groot Foundation support writers contributing to The Dial.
